During the 80% of the time when Challenger is out of ground station range, NSI experts in the Johnson Space Center Newsroom will keep you informed on mission status. Dial-A-Shuttle will be available 24 hours a day from 6 a.m. EST the day of launch through landing. U.S. callers will be charged $0.50 for one minute and $0.35 each additional minute, with a maximum call length of 2.5 hours. 18,000 callers can listen at any one time. The first flight for the Orbiter Challenger is scheduled for flight from the Kennedy Space Center, FLA on April 4,1983 at 1:30 p.m. EST, with landing April 4, 1983 at 1:49 p.m. EST.
