Naturally, we didn't pay attention. Now we are considering such schemes. We have 2 780's and 1 750, all running VMS and mostly dedicated to Fortran number crunching. Now we are considering putting some word-processing and data-base up on one under UN*X. Thus, we are interested in: 1. Systems that run UN*X some of the time and VMS some of the time. What is your experience with such operations? How do you do file access? What is VMS used for? What is UN*X used for? 2. Systems with VMS on one VAX and UN*X on another. What sort of communications are possible between the VAXes? As they say, thanks in advance and given sufficient interest we will post a summary to the net.
