For those of us who have never been married this is often probably true. ("The grass is always greener...) We don't have any bitter aftertaste of an unhappy marriage and may, therefore, still be rather idealistic. Hopefully, we have learned to also mix a sufficient amount of reality in our outlook on relationships and marriage. He also asked why people consider living alone to be synonymous with being lonely. It doesn't have to be. Personally, I find more emotional satisfaction from a group of close friends than from one individual. No ONE person can meet all of our emotional needs. It isn't fair to expect them to. He also mentioned one night stands. That's fine, if that's all you're looking for in a relationship. That type of relationship, however, doesn't give much emotional satisfaction. I think men can handle one night stands better than women can. Sex for a woman is usually used to fill an emotional need, not just a physical one. Women aren't looking as much for the physical satisfaction as they are the emotional support. Knowing CJH's background, I can understand why he would be rather pessimistic about inter-personal relationships. I just hope that he doesn't allow a couple of bad experiences to influence his view of women in general. We're not all scheming, conniving, money-hungry witches.
