The "mini pill" is a low dose contraceptive, usually just containing a
small dose of synthetic progestin, rather than the historically more
common combination of estrogen and progestin.

Unlike the ordinary pill, it does not suppress ovulation, but rather
creates an inhospitable climate for fertilization and implantation.
