Are the benefits of the momentary joy really so great that the undeniably serious and long-lasted possible consequences can be simply discarded? Is it the same, to some extent, with smoking and drinking (i.e., the attitude being "So what if I get cancer when I'm 65? I still have 45 years to go..." or "I have plenty of brain cells left, my liver is fine, and I'll drive slow")? OK, so abstension is not always desireable, and with most pleasurable events is very difficult for most people (myself included) to believe in. But, if your really concerned about the consequences, remember that, unless you belive it divine conception, it never fails. -- Matt Orel decvax!yale-comix!orel
