Another reason parents can be more protective of daughters is that daughters
can get pregnant and sons cannot.  As is clear from the discussion of birth
control responsibility, we STILL live in a society in which such matters are
often left to the woman (girl) to take care of.  And the pain and stigma
of an unwanted pregnancy falls almost entirely upon the mother.
