A request for help passed on

Configuration is an PDP-11/44 running UNIX V7 from DEC
   RKO7, Dataram S33 ctrller and Kennedy 5380 winchester
   Dataram T34 ctrller and Kennedy 9100 tape drive

Problem: Any access to the winchester causes the tape drive to hang
   waiting for ctmbus? Anyone seen this problem or know a fix?
