It is available through DEC Computer Special Systems (CSS). The DMR11 (not DMP11) is the correct replacement for the DMC11. The KMC11 is a totally separate peripheral that can be used to control DZ11s or DMR11s or other communications devices; it can act as UNIBUS master. UNIX System III and later definitely support the KMC11 as an RJE communications controller through software support for the "Virtual Protocol Machine". However, I wonder how you expect to use this on a VAX-11/780 at BRL, since these are all Berkeley UNIX machines.
