For those people who are using the paging mode of the terminal driver,
if you put the line "PAGER=" in your .profile, and add PAGER to one of
the "export" lines, news won't bother running your articles through p(1).
This will speed things up noticeably, and avoid that silly ":" that the
new news sometimes prints.

WARNING:  Please don't advertise this to folks who aren't sophisticated
enough to know what's going on with paging mode.  If I can ever find the
time to fix two or three remaining difficulties with paging mode, it will
become standard for everybody;  until then, it's not really a good idea
to push it on naive users.
