I'd like to be able to highlight a region of text with gosling's emacs.

For example, this would be handy for illustrating the exact extent of a region
of text.  I'd like to have a command such as `highlight-region' which displays
the region between mark and dot in reverse video or standout mode.

Anybody have any ideas on how hard this would be?  Anybody tried it before?
Any suggestions?
