We get pretty good results with Corry's Slug and Snail Death.  You can also
get those slug garages that are supposed to be dog-proof.  The Slug and
Snail Death is harmful to animals, so you should probably make a little
house for it out of a tin can, or fence in your garden, which will keep
the dog from romping through it.
