I heard this from a friend, who SWEARS that it happened to his sister
and isn't merely apocryphal:

She was speeding down the New York State Thruway (sorry, that IS how
they spell it there) and was pulled over by your standard macho NY
State Trooper. He swaggered up to the car, gun prominently at hip,
and leaned down as she opened the car window. "Do you know what you
did, ma'am?", he asked.

All innocence, she said, "Didn't I buy a ticket to the State Troopers'
Ball?"

"Ma'am, State Troopers HAVE no balls", he replied.

About a second later, he turned red, went straight back to his car
without saying a word, and drove off.
