Someone recently posted a note requesting information on the
Anchor Signalman Mark VIII modem.  I lost the original request,
but if this person could post a summary of responses to the net
or send it to me, I would really appreciate it.  I just saw an
ad for the Anchor Mark VIII, Bell 212A compatible, 1200/300 baud,
auto dial/answer, for $319.  That compares to about $400 as a
low price for the US Robotics (without autodial) or $500 for
the Hayes 1200.  These prices are from Byte or flyer advertizements.
The $319 price was in a flyer from AB Computers, Colmar, PA
(215)822-7727.  They advertise in Byte every month.  They also
sell a 300 baud Anchor Mark I, direct connect, RS232 for $79.
Does anyone know if there is a serious quality problem with Anchor
modems?
