I went to the effort of constructing a cassette interface for the VIC-20
so that I could use regular tape recorders, using a schematic that
appeared in BYTE a while back.  I found that, at the prices our rip-off
electronic supply stores charge, I paid as much for the interface and a
cheap tape recorder as I would have for the Commodore Datasette.  Also,
I couldn't exchange programs with other VIC users that used the
Datasette.
