	POEM
	(FOR A GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL WOMAN)

		I tried to talk
		    Joy
		In the eternal
			sadness
		    of my way.

		Foul in the Foreground
		Down in the room
		Cry and moon.

		I wish deep
		    in the pit of me
		To offer more
		Than can be taken
		To overwhelm the bad
		Talk the good
		Take Her on my heart --

		And swallow up
		Eat It
		    Take the awful
		To myself
