It is expensive to operate (~$1/print). It produces small prints, smaller than the 3-1/2 by 5 or whatever it is you normally get from Kodak. The one I used completely washed out the highlights, and if I adjusted it darker to compensate, it just chopped out the shadows instead. Compared to prints made by Kodak, it just doesn't look very good. But it is a whole lot faster, and you don't have to let your slides out of your sight to be manhandled by lab techs. You can also be sure the print isn't backwards, which 3 of my last 12 prints from Kodak were.
