I wouldn't call it macro photography because it wasn't 1:1, but it is a lot cheaper than extension tubes or automatic bellows. Wally P.S. When you use extension tubes, the light falls off A LOT. You better have strong illumination and/or a steady tripod and stationary subject. I took macro photos of a class ring once (using bellows and a tele.) and used a set of movie floodlights. The focusing is critical and it's hard to do unless you have a lot of illumination.
