the lex trick to find out what options to run on a given file is pretty
neat, but i can't help but notice that the logic is almost identical
to an old version of vroff.c; coincidence?  we still use it, with numerous
twiddles for tbl, refer, etc., and in different incarnations to assemble
the cmd line for line printer or diablo; just never got around to redoing
it elegantly... ernie harkins
