We're shopping for a workstation to be the front and back end for programs to solve differential equations of fluid dynamics--to accept descriptions of regions (using a mouse or tablet) and to display solutions in color--to reside on Stanford's 3MB Ethernet. A 256K 68000 system w/ 800x1000 pixel resolution and hardware graphics assist (e.g. BitBlt) without local disk would be fine, but these aren't requirements. What's available? I'd welcome info on possible units (e.g. SGI iris, 3 Rivers color Perq) & their specs (processor, memory, graphics hardware & software, price (under $30K), ...); I'll summarize responses for the net if there's interest. Incidentally, is Logitech's LogiMouse the most accurate (380 ppi), and how much more precise is a good digital tablet? Thanks. +j -------
