The article I posted was actually a version of the intended article,
sent to someone on a machine that doesn't receive news.  The article as
it appeared should be framed by a reference to an earlier request for
help with a bug with the colour adapter card, which refused to provide
colour on the composite video output.

The bug appears to be with the motherboard, which supplies the colour
burst frequency via the bus (signal OSC) to the colour card.  The
recent article describes the bug on the motherboard.
