Gee, your message of apology contained the phrase
	'... all occurrences of "<one backslash>" [were changed to]
		"<one backslash>" [by some brain-damaged mailer]...'

Looks like the same brain-damaged mailer ate your message too.  Do
we have to uuencode SOURCE to get it safely through the mails???
