The problem of alloy wheels getting dirty was brought up in one
of the recent auto mags (I think).  Their suggestion was to take
your wheels to a place that cleans wheels with a sandblaster.
As soon as you get them back (wrapped in plastic) you coat them
well with varnish or acrylic.  After this, a simple hosing off
and maybe some soap and water should clean off any junk.
