The concern with airport security of the late 70's and early 80's eliminated some camping opportunities. As a specific example, it used to be possible to camp on the grounds of the Schweizer (sailplane) flight school at Elmira. In fact, we expected to camp there the first time we went up there. However, the Elmira airport had been secured, and the security fence surrounded the flight school. Everyone must now be out at night. It's a shame, too -- it's a nice camping area. Mary Shaw
