Co., Everett, Wash Lines: 13 I like white characters on a black background. The black on white format causes the screen to be too bright, causing eye strain during a long session. I think that the less overall light the screen emits, the better. The white on black format is better, however, when reflections are a problem. Reflections can be partially overcome with a screen filter. The bottom line is that the "Best" format it a function of personal preference and environment.
