Since much of the discussion has involved screen colors which doesn't have much to do with "cognitive engineering" it might be appropriate to spawn another news group net.ergonomics for that type of topic. Still another possibility would be a news group with ideas for setting up a shell environment. A while ago there was a discussion of unique prompts used by people on the network, but this discussion could be extended to all other types of shell commands. In fact, the news group itself (as a community effort) could set up and modify a shell to give out to new users. Perhaps this news group could be called net.shell. I've been working with human intefaces for a few years now, and I'd like to share some of the resources I've discovered. 1. There is a SIG (Special Interest Group) on CHI (Computer Human Interactions). This group has a newsletter and will be holding a large conference in December. 2. There is a Computer Group which is part of the Human Factors Society. 3. IFIP (Europe) has a Group 6.3 which publishes a newsletter called "Interact" Bob Allen allegra!rba
