There are two lanes on the I-80 road through Northern Ohio. This road is also referred to as the "Ohio Turnpike". Of these two lanes, one has been called the "left" lane and the other the "right" lane. This viewpoint can be taken from any manner of vehicle travelling in the prescribed direction on the road. (It may be noteworthy that some folks call the left lane the "inside" lane and the right lane the "outside" lane. This viewpoint can be taken from a small boy standing in the grassy knoll referred to as the "median". The median gets its name from the fact that it is sort-of "midway" between the outer confines of the roadway and that property which is owned and maintained by the Ohio Turnpike Commission.) While travelling on this roadway, one will note signs that say, to this effect: +------------+ | KEEP RIGHT | | PASS LEFT | | ONLY | +------------+ Indicating that you are to "KEEP RIGHT" and "PASS ON THE LEFT". There are also a number of signs which imply the above philosophy, hence: +----------------+ | SLOWER TRAFFIC | | KEEP RIGHT | +----------------+ If after all these signs, one still insists on driving in the left (inside) lane, then one deserves what one gets from the local staties. This is one of the better laws around and, remarkaly enough, it gets enforced. Hokay? All clear now? Personally, I prefer the terse article to the wordy one.
