	And who says Boston isn't the land of the pedestrian -- at least
the variety that are hazards to drivers... Every Bostonian seems to
feel he owns the road, in or out of his car.  Pedestrians routinely
step off curbs without checking to see if a car is coming.  Try driving 
through Harvard Square during rush hour and see what I mean. I learned
to drive in Washington, DC, which is hardly a safe place either -- you
learn very fast to avoid any vehicle with DPL (diplomat) license plates,
but Boston is infinitely worse.
