Every Bostonian seems to feel he owns the road, in or out of his car. Pedestrians routinely step off curbs without checking to see if a car is coming. Try driving through Harvard Square during rush hour and see what I mean. I learned to drive in Washington, DC, which is hardly a safe place either -- you learn very fast to avoid any vehicle with DPL (diplomat) license plates, but Boston is infinitely worse.
