The reason why cash does not get credited until the next day when you deposit through a machine is that just because you type in that you deposited $100 is no gurantee that there actually is $100 in that envelope, so the bank will not credit your account until they open the envelope to verify the amount inside it. My complaint involves checks. Why must I wait as much as 2 weeks for my check to clear and for the bank to allow me to use it. In today's information age why should the whole process take more than ten minutes? A friend of mine told me about an experience he had at Citibank in NY (a bank with many machines but absolutely no regard for the customer), he deposited a check, received the cancel check, walked into his branch and showed them the canceled check and they still would not let him withdraw from the account. Do they legally have the right to do this? Why can't I take out my money when I want. Please respond, this has been bothering me for a while. NDK
