I get the distinct impression that you think that all smokers are a lot of inconsiderate boors with no brains who ought to be shot. I think that it is only fair to point out that there are a lot of inconsiderate boors who do not give me much evidence that they use their brains at all who do not smoke. Some of them have been sending me mail all week. if you can tell me what a 'fascist commie bastard who has no right to call himself an American' has to do with me, though, you could help me understand what is going on in some people's minds. In contrast, there are a rather large number of smokers, all of whom are considerate enough not to smoke around me. I have even had some success with strangers in restaurants. If you preach 'shoot them or legislate against them' I can see why you might have less success. Okay, I am going to take another tack; my last one doesn't seem to have been more effective than banging my head on the wall. I want to do things because they are right. If you do not share this belief, then we might as well quit right here, because I have no way of teaching this one. There may be others who can, but I am not one of them. How do you know that what you do is right? I cannot make decisions based on my personal preference alone. I do not think that I am so enlightened that I cannot make a mistake. When you are dealing with the rights of other individuals making a mistake is about the most wrong thing I can imagine. Wanting something is not sufficient justification. You must have some grounds for believing that you are right. I have yet to hear a reason from you about why you think you are right. I only hear that you want something. Are you dependent on faith, or luck, or the will of the majority to make your decisions right? laura creighton utzoo!utcsstat!laura
