	While I do not particularly wish to defend Apple (who
seems to have gone to the James Watt school of shooting), the
Altair does not really qualify as a "personal" computer. How
much canned software was produced for it? Could your average
{housewife|househusband} have plugged it in and started balancing
the household budget? I don't think so. It was largely a hobbyist
and hackers machine, with little worth the the larger marketplace.

	On the other hand, there is the Trash-80 to consider. My
memory is a little fuzzy, but the Model I and the Apple I have to
have been within a few months of each other. Anybody remember for
certain?
