Message-ID: <1824@rabbit.UUCP> Date: Sat, 20-Aug-83 12:11:36 EDT Article-I.D.: rabbit.1824 Posted: Sat Aug 20 12:11:36 1983 Date-Received: Sat, 20-Aug-83 16:20:49 EDT Organization: Bell Labs, Murray Hill Lines: 49 Alan says that he doesn't agree with the draft because he doesn't trust the US government. While he may feel that his statement is reasonable, I thnk that it is both suicidal and homicidal, as well as representing a completely sociopthic atitude. By his action of refusing tof, he implicitly places absolute trust inother world leaders, such as Kohmeni, Andropov, and Castro, who have already been shown to be power-crazed murderers. His implicit placing of trust in ONLY those who are murderers and liars is suicidal (in his case) and homicidal (in mine, since I don't agree and do not wish to die from his dismantling of my protection.). While I realize that it's a popular act to blame the government for your own problems and frustrations, look at what it's done to countries like Italy and France, where undirected public rage has led (with a little covert help from some of our homicidal world leaders) to a nearly complete paralysis of the nation's economy and defense capability. (Italy's condition should be completely clear from news briefings even on TV, and France's only a little less so, as they sell arms to anyone, evn their enemies, just because they NEED THE MONEY. ) It would indeed be a coup for the homicidal maniacs of the world if all the US had Alan's suicidal attitude. (Why the hell do you think Hitler COULD take over Europe? Well, he KNEW that the pansy Americans wouldn't come to fight, and he was right.) If I were one of those people, I would use all the deceptive tactics at my disposal to convince as many US citizens as possible of the desirablilty of commiting national suicide. Since I'm only a mildmannered, shy electrical engineer without the best and most devious minds to aid in my aims, and I've thought of the idea, I suspect that the Kohmeni's of the world have had some experience with the thought. Not only that, I think you've bought it, body, soul, and spirit. While I don't regard it as reasonable to tell you todefend yourself, I do not grant you, or anyone else, the right to take away my defenses. It the future, Alan, when you complain about the evil US government, please attempt to give some credit to the rest of the world as well. It is possible that you feel that all governments should be perfect. If so, your expectation is both unjustified and unreasonable, and you should consider what you can do to BETTER te situation. I do not credit approaches intending destruction as improvement, unless you also propose a practical, implementable, process to take its place. Hence, I ask you to consider your personal attitudes, and to explain why you wish only to encourage destruction.
