It is really annoying when a bank won't clear a payroll check from a
well known in-town company for a week or so.  This happened to me once at
a bank; I promptly closed my account and changed banks.  There is enough
competition in the banking arena to make this worthwhile.

Moral:  don't take shit from money-grubbing bankers.
