War has been abolished, legally at least.  All nations signatory to
the articles of the United Nations have agreed not to use war as a
means of furthering their national aims.  As far as I know, none of
these nations has ever declared war since they signed the UN articles,
and, of course, this includes almost all of the nations in the world.

But, then again, this does not seemed to have stoped various kinds of
"armed conflict".....
