But the question isn't "why is marijuana illegal while tobacco is legal?"
It's "why is tobacco, a known carcinogen, still legal?" And the
answer is "because the tobacco lobbyists won't let it be outlawed, not
to mention all the people who'd go through nicotine withdrawal."
As more people give up smoking, however, the power of the tobacco
lobby may diminish, until one day maybe it can be more restricted.
