You already HAVE such a device - it's the touchpad on your push button phone. Having one of those go off in your ear isn't pleasant, which is why your earphone gets muted when you touch tone a phone number. (But the earphone of the guy on the other end is NOT muted.) Of course, having a computer phone you tells you nothing about the particular equipment attaching to the phone line. It's not likely to be a 212 modem, that's for sure! I wonder what happens if you blast 2600 hz at it?
