Mechanics?} ( i don't remember which one my wife buys for me....) has an ad in it for a device that does exactly what the author of the article this is in response to described. (say that in one breath) Anyway,... it seems some electronics company is selling a device that connects in line between your modular plug-in and your phone and answers your call on the first ring. If it then hears a owner assigned access code of ? digits it rings the call thru to the telephone. Else it hangs up.
