I think that the addition I made to the title of this article is
a correct use of the term "[sic]".  Slander is a verbal denigration
of someone in front of witnesses.  Libel, not liable, is the
written form.  Since we communicate here via typewritten notes,
this constitutes libel.  It's good to know what you're being
sued for.
