Once upon a time I shared an apartment with a friend and the kitchen
faucet was slightly wedged such that the hot water valve tended to
chew up the washer.  We concocted the explanation for why everyone
recommends using cold water for cooking:

	because it has less neoprene!

(it seemed funny at the time ...)
