Bear traps are overkill, and often have such a large set of jaws that they might snap completely around the cat and miss. Large, vicious dogs work well for deterring the cats, but large dog tracks don't do much for incipient carrots either. You might try the Vic Atiyeh method: sit on your back porch with a 22. Or you could ask the owners to train their cats to stay home OR ELSE. If it's your own cat, then it's up to you to figure out HOW to train a cat anything, and I have little sympathy. Rik Smoody
