Subject: Re hayes modem and amateur radio : net.ham-radio

I use a hayes smartmodem and tried that feature when i first
read the manual.  i heard some dits and some dahs.  i guess that
you could use them to turn your CW unit on and off.  So you could
program your micro to turn ascii codes into Morse code.  
I have not used the modem this way since. 
Too bad it does not work the other way around too (Morse to ASCII)!
