Sorry. North S:K84 H:J92 D:853 C:J763 S W N E 4S -- -- -- South S:AT976532 H:6 D:9 C:A52 Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, you have bought the hand for 4S. Although you are clearly destined for a very good result even if you go down one (the opponents are surely cold for 5H), it wont hurt your score if you happen to make your contract, right? There is a chance if the opponents make one tiny error; that isnt too much to ask, is it? Plan the play. West leads KH followed by the AH. hint 1: East does not have a singleton QC or KC hint 2: neither opponent has doubleton KQ of clubs hint 3: niether opponent ever leads away from his KQ of clubs hint 4: East never plays the KC or QC in second or third seat w/o North playi the JC first. hint 5: neither opponent ever leads or plays the KC or QC needlessly. There is a better line to try to make this contract than any of the above hints. And it actually has a very realistic chance of occuring. The defense would have to be clairvoyant to stop you from attempting this line of play. What is this line of play, What distribution of cards are you hoping for, and What is the tiny error thats required( but not unexpected)? **************************************************************************** There is a legitimate chance, without a mistake. This is the hoped for distribution: J Q AKQxxxx xx x AKQJTxxx Kxxx Qx The club honors could be reversed. The spade honors could be reversed. Cash a spade. Lead a diamond. East wins and must return a diamond, since a club gives you the J. Ruff the diamond, cross with a spade, ruff a diamond. Now lead A of clubs and a club. Now either the J is good (west hops) or east gives you a ruff-sluff. If east has both spades and one less diamond, you hope he doesnt return a spade.
