Just when I got excited  about Coot Lake,  which is a mere 50 miles down
the road, I  discovered  that it was the subject of a local flap a while
back.  To make a long story short, it is closed as a nude rec area.

But, there's always the bend in the North (or was it South?) Fork of the
Yuba River  about 15 miles  outside  Grass  Valley,  California,  on the
gravel road going towards the national forest.  That was a very nice and
secluded place about eight years ago...
