Divine revelation is not necessarily given only to those without sin, but seems possible to anyone, anywhere, anywhen. (Remember Paul aka Saul?) The Mormon church exists today with its own theology and tra- dition, largely apart from the character of its fathers or even verifiable authenticity of the Book of Mormon.
