Draw your own conclusions. 1. The year 1948 was the year 5708 in the Jewish calendar. 2. 1948 was the year of Israeli independence. 3. The 5708th verse in the Hebrew version of the Torah (first five books of the Bible) is Devarim (Deuteronomy) XXX.v. It reads: "And the L-rd thy G-d will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and He will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers." (Soncino translation) For those who are interested in such things, interesting parallels can also be drawn for 1956 and 1967.
