Lines: 16 I spoke to an Intel representative about the 186 problems and he vehemently denied any plans to cancel the '186. He said that there are some problems with the current chip, but that a fix is in the works. I don't know how credible this response is, but I do know of some designers using the '186 and the problems have not hampered their work to any great extent. BTW, the '286 would not satisfy any persons who planned on using the '186. The '186 is an 8086 with peripherals (Interrupt controller, timers, address decoders, DMA controller) while the '286 is an 8086 with virtual memory capability.
