Not only that, but I enjoyed the sequel, the Elfstones of Shannara as well. If I got pissed off every time I saw a plot reused, I would have left sf long ago. I rather doubt that Tolkien had the first and only quest for magical powers against a magical enemy, so saying that any other fantasy novel which does the same is a ripoff of it is less than accurate.
