It's a detailed account of what would have happened if the American colonies had lost the revolutionary war. Jefferson et al flee to the southwest, form a country, etc. The book was written by a historian , not a science ficton writer, and does not really resemble science fiction. It's a very detailed fictional history. The details occasionally become tedious, but it's interesting reading. --Dan
