Somehow it just ain't unix without it. So as i've moved to other and better versions of unix, my prompt has stayed "% ". Once in italy i did make my prompt "Yoda sez " to show how prompts could be changed, but nobody there had seen Star Wars, so the joke went flat. I think the best prompt string joke was perpetrated here by one of the hackers on another. He changed her prompt string (in her login profile) from "% " to "% ". He did this when she left the terminal logged in for a minute. Took her about a month to figure it out. She like to killed him when she figured it out. It didn't lead to romance, but it was still a good joke. chris
