We both worked on a Multics beast, and had great fun sending mail & messages back and forth. After work, we had *many* long conversations about computers - she learned a lot from me, and I learned a few things in return. However, we also spent a lot of time talking about and doing other things. Talking about computers seemed to go in waves, usually linked to when we were doing something particularly interesting or difficult. I'm still not sure why we broke up about 1 1/2 years ago, but sometimes I suspect it was because I got into a heavy hacking period for about 6 months and meaningful communication nearly ceased. I still miss her. Now I find it a little difficult to go out with women that don't know anything about computers and/or don't care. However, this means I have to pay *lots* of attention to them when we are together, rather than drifting off into talk of the latest hack or bug discovery. I think this is better, but I still miss those other conversations. -- Rex
