Message-ID: <124@denelcor.UUCP> Date: Tue, 23-Aug-83 13:17:51 EDT Article-I.D.: denelcor.124 Posted: Tue Aug 23 13:17:51 1983 Date-Received: Fri, 26-Aug-83 01:43:24 EDT Lines: 18 My preference is for Members Of The Same Sex, which severely limits my opportunities for meeting people to date. There is no lack of people of my "persuasion", but generally we don't act differently from heterosexuals, and so we are usually assumed to be "straight" until proven otherwise. I challenge this assumption: I assume people might be gay until proven other- wise, giving them the benefit of the doubt. And so in social situations I would like to approach men I find interesting in the same manner in which I could approach women, regardless of the surroundings. And so I pose the following questions, addressed to our straight brethren: 1) Would you resent an overture (distinct from a proposition) from a gay person, or would you be flattered? How would you respond? 2) If a person of the same sex asked you to dinner, would you assume they were gay? If so, would you still consider the invitation? If you must flame, please keep the net clean and send mail. Robert {...csu-cs!denelcor!rob}
